I live on a farm outside of Guthrie.  I work in Edmond.  Part of my job involves driving to different neighborhoods to view inventory and/or show homes to potential buyers.  I don't know about you, but the gas prices are making a huge dent in my budget.

Here are some tips for stretcing your gas dollar:

1. Plan your route.  Know where you are going and make needed stops along the way.  Try to do all your errands in one trip and know the route so you can make the most efficient drive.  Make a detailed grocery list so you are not making several trips to the store when one trip would work.  Stop along the way at the pharmacy, dry cleaners, hardware store etc.
2. Check out the cheapest places to buy gas.  If there is one close to you - buy your gas there.  Don't go too far out of your way to save a few pennies.  This would be counterproductive.  Check out Cheap Gas Prices.
3. Keep your car in good condition.  Check the oil.  Check the tire pressure and check the air filter.  (Or in my case -  have someone check them for you!)
4. Fill up your car 3 days before a holiday.  This way you will beat the holiday increase in gas prices that seems to be automatic.
5. Use the minimum octane gas recommended for your car.  If you need to, mix octane gas to achieve the minimum.. If your car needs 89 octane and the choices at the pump are 87 and 91 - fill your car halfway with 87 and then finish with 91 to achieve the 89 octane recommended.
